• A tropical low (17U) may form along the monsoon trough over southern Gulf of Carpentaria late on the weekend or on Monday.
• The low is expected to move eastwards across Cape York Peninsula into the northwest Coral Sea early next week.
• There is a Low chance of 17U developing into a tropical cyclone mid to late next week, while it is located off the northeast coast of Queensland.
• There is large uncertainty in the movement of 17U from mid next week onwards, with the most likely scenario being continued movement towards the southeast, away from the Queensland coast.
